Afternoon Teas

Observance of this quintessentially British custom originated amongst the wealthy classes in England in the 1840’s. Anna Maria Bedford, Duchess of Bedford, is widely credited as transforming afternoon tea in England into a late afternoon meal whilst visiting Belvoir Castle.

What better way to spend an indulgent afternoon than with a Cavendish Afternoon Tea overlooking the Chatsworth Estate, in either the Garden Room (or weather permitting on our new addition – The Terrace) or the more formal setting of the Gallery Restaurant.

Bookings are not required for the Garden Room or Garden Room Terrace, where seating is offered on an ‘as available’ basis. To avoid disappointment, however, it is recommended that a booking be made for the Gallery Restaurant where a table will be reserved for you. Larger parties are best accommodated by booking in the Gallery Restaurant. Private afternoon tea parties can also be accommodated, either in the Boardroom for up to 18 persons or the Private Dining Room for up to 10.
