The Cavendish Hotel, Baslow, Derbyshire – Access Statement .
Parts of the Cavendish date back at least 250 years and the building is grade 2 listed. The Hotel is accessed via a sloping driveway (the Cavendish is built on a rising hill) to a set of seven steps leading to the front door. A second entrance can be made available for wheelchair users, accessed with the aid of a ramp. Our staff are always at hand for any guests requiring access assistance.
All ground floor public areas (Lounge/Bar, Gallery Restaurant, Reception, Garden Room (one step), meeting rooms and toilet facilities) are on the ground floor without changes in levels.
Whilst reasonable adjustments have been taken into account, the age and design of the building has prevented the installation of a lift to access the first floor level of the Hotel, where the majority of bedrooms are located. We have, however, two ground floor Inn Rooms which can be accessed from the Reception area without further steps. We should point out that none of our bedrooms or bathrooms are fully altered to accommodate disabled facilities.
